Osteopaths were included in health services for the first time during the 2012 London Olympic Games. Registro Brasileiro dos Osteopatas (RBrO – Brazilian Register of Osteopaths), Associate Member of the OIA, met in November 2012 with representatives of the General Osteopathic Council – UK GOsC and established the Brazilian Osteopathic Committee for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
All Olympic Games host countries have general hospitals available to participants where services in various medical specialties are accessible.With international support, the Brazilian Osteopathic Committee has been working since January 2013 to include outpatient Osteopath services at the 2016 Games. The main goal was the inclusion of Brazilian osteopaths in the 2016 Olympic Games.
